Shubarkol komir achieves Bettercoal Producer status

We are pleased to announce that JSC Shubarkol komir has become a Bettercoal Producer, marking an important milestone in its commitment to responsible mining practices. 

JSC Shubarkol komir underwent a Bettercoal Site Assessment in November 2025. The assessment reviewed the company's operations against the requirements of the Bettercoal Code 2.0, evaluating performance across key areas including environmental management, labour and working conditions, business integrity, and community engagement. 

Following the assessment, a Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) has been developed, setting out the actions the company will undertake over the coming years to further align its practices with the provisions of the Bettercoal Code 2.0. 

The Bettercoal Code 2.0 is an internationally recognised standard for assessing, assuring, and supporting continuous improvement in environmental, social and governance performance across the coal mining supply chain. Achieving Bettercoal Producer status demonstrates a company's commitment to these principles. 

We look forward to working with JSC Shubarkol komir as they implement their CIP and move towards alignment with the Code.
