Black Royalty Minerals Koornfontein (Pty) Ltd achieves Bettercoal Producer status

‍Bettercoal is pleased to announce that Black Royalty Minerals Koornfontein (Pty) Ltd has become a Bettercoal Producer, marking an important milestone in its commitment to responsible mining practices.

‍Black Royalty Minerals Koornfontein (Pty) Ltd underwent a Bettercoal Site Assessment in November 2025. The assessment reviewed the company’s operations against the requirements of the Bettercoal Code 2.0, evaluating performance across key areas including environmental management, labour and working conditions, business integrity, and community engagement.

‍Following the assessment, a Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) has been developed, setting out the actions the company will undertake over the coming years to further align its practices with the provisions of the Bettercoal Code 2.0.

‍Achieving Bettercoal Producer status reflects Black Royalty Minerals Koornfontein’s commitment to engaging with internationally recognised expectations for responsible coal mining. We welcome the company’s participation in the programme and look forward to working with them as they implement their Continuous Improvement Plan in the years ahead.
